With the coming and going of the holidays, I am now two very stand-out pairs of shoes richer. One is prim and proper, with a twist of glam; the other, edgy and comfy, with a hint of what I’m calling “motorcycle chic”. Neither pair particularly falls within the realms of my usual style spectrum, but I love how they’ve affected my wardrobe by making normal weekend outfits a lot more interesting, pretty and edgy!
JCrew Glitter Oxford Ballet Flat [40's inspired with a touch of glamour]
The oxfords pair well with my Vince striped boat neck & these Les Halles ‘70s skinny jeans. Layer with a winter coat + scarf and hat in a pop of color (I’m drawn to red or maroon for this outfit) for the cold weather months!
ASH Ankle Motorcycle Boot [grained leather, double buckles and the fold detail in front add a hint of biker to this black ankle boot]
This Trouvé dolman sleeve pullover (mine is in grey), plus a great pair of skinny jeans (photo c/o Denim Blog) are the perfect compliment, bringing out the softer side of these edgy boots. Layer in a necklace and you’ve achieved comfy and effortless style.
Stepping out of your style comfort zone with a few smart and wearable purchases can really enhance your wardrobe. What are your favorite outer-boundary fashion finds?
