This past weekend, I went to a really great themed party. I know, the mention of a theme may scare many people away, but I think that if it’s done right (and please not in an 80′s theme!) it can result in some of the best get togethers! The real key is not to stress over your outfit…as long as you throw on one themed accessory, simply wear what you please with the rest. So this winter, why don’t you warm up by the fire (or set your TV to the campfire station hah!), throw on some fun hats and sweaters (maybe someone will show up in a funny set of ski overalls…), and throw yourself and your friends a Ski Lodge Party!

[A fire, snacks, SMORES!, and a clever drink list made this party super inviting]

In addition to beer, the hosts set out a delicious and fun set of make-your-own cocktails (inclusive of shot glasses made of ice and laminated drink lists…now that’s party planning taken to another level!). Below are some of my favorite cocktails this winter. *If you live in NYC, I suggest you try some of Yerba Buena’s (at Perry St.) amazing latin infused cocktails (see the Pocquito Picante below).
1] Pocquito Picanteadd a spicy, yet refreshing kick to a chilly night!; 2] Irish Coffeethis warm treat is an old mainstay, but always a comforting pick-me-up; 3] Blood Orange French 75a seasonal twist (blood oranges grow in cold weather months and can be found in most grocery stores and markets) on a classy and delicious cocktail (see the classic French 75 here).
